mountaineering

The town of Radovljica is located in the heart of the Gorenjska region, the land of mountains, and is therefore an ideal starting point for many mountaineering tours. The Julian Alps extend to the northwest across the Italian border, and the peaks of the Karavanke and Kamnik-Savinja Alps form a natural border with Austria to the north, beneath which are lower foothills. Slovenia’s only national park – Triglav National Park, lies within the area of the Julian Alps. It is one of the oldest European's national parks, registered in 1924.

Mountain enthusiasts can choose between short one-day trips or multi-day mountaineering. Most starting points are no more than 50 minutes by car from Radovljica. The numerous mountain and hiking trails are well-marked, so you can explore the mountains by yourself, however, by request we can also arrange a tour or mountain guide.
